The photo(s) that you upload are vital to overall impact of your bespoke portraits. Remember, fantastic artwork all starts with fantastic photography. Please take a moment to review these guidelines to help you select the best photo(s) for your unique portraits.
Our Photo Guidelines
Here are some of our top tips to make sure that you pick the very best photo(s):
• The higher the resolution – the better! That allows us to capture all those details to your portraits. When uploading, please make sure that the photo(s) has not been overly compressed.
• Please take the photo(s) from your favourite angle. Our design team will base your portrait on the image, and angle, supplied to us. If a portrait of pets or loved ones – we have found that (generally) looking straights at the camera, at eye level, provides the best results. Whilst an image of your home is (typically) better suited to a slight angle.
• Lighting is vital. Try to select images that feature natural daylight – or bright lighting. That way we can get a true reflection of the artwork (for example – colour tones). Please avoid images that have been overly filtered or and too dark.
• Try to use photos that have nothing blocking the main subject – such as objects or shadows. This could distort the colours and the end results.
• Make sure to select images that have the subject as the majority of the space. Whilst we try to be as flexible and accommodating as possible, our design team may not be able to include parts that are not included of cropped out. For example – a body part, a paw or the chimney of a home.
• If you are uploading a photo that feature accessories, such as a hat or collar, then note that our design team will always include the accessory in the photo unless otherwise noted. If you would not like the accessory to be included, you may leave a note our us when ordering. We will feed these comments into the design team.
Before we begin creating the artwork, we will review the photo(s) to ensure that they will help our design team provide the best result. If we have any comments or recommendations then we will contact you and work with you to find a more suitable image.
If you would like us to check a photo before you process your order then please do not hesitate email us on support@handdrawnmoments.com – we will take a look and let you know as soon as possible.
In many cases, we can still work our magic.
